I have to admit, these aren't exactly class notes. But I strangely am more engaged when I transfer the learning into my own version. These are it, in History of Illustration class. We talked extensively about linework and controversy, and these are what I think of them.

There's a fine line between lines looking like stripes and looking like values. Human brain is odd in that way -- there is no particular standard between them, yet we know when we see it. I love values and tiptoeing on that fine line.
